On behalf of William Surmay family, we are saddened to announce his passing on Monday, February 24, 2025 at the Grey Nuns Hospital. He passed away peacefully with his family by his side at the age of 79.  William was born in Fort William, Ontario on January 30, 1946. He moved to Calgary, AB in 1975 and lived there with his wife Shirley until her untimely passing in August 2015. He then moved to Edmonton and lived out his final years with his Daughter Michelle, son in law Ben, grand-daughter Emma and enjoyed spending time with his other granddaughter Sarah and her daughter Paisley.  William is survived by his daughter Michelle Surmay (Ben Caines), grand-daughters Sarah Surmay (Tj Lange), Emma Surmay Caines, his great-grand daughter Paisley Marois, and his brother John Surmay.  William was predeceased by his wife of 43 years, Shirley Surmay in 2015, his father Stephen Surmay in 1958 and his mother Lena Surmay in 1991. 

As per William’s  wishes, no formal services will be held and cremation has taken place. The family would like to thank the staff at Grey Nuns Hospital in Edmonton, AB for all the hard work they did for him and for the support to our family  as well they would like to thank everyone for their kind words at this difficult time.
