In Loving Memory of Surjeet Singh

A Tribute to Our Beloved Father Born 1953 • Bhabat, Zirakpur, Punjab, India

Passed Away at Age 73 It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our father, Surjeet Singh, on March 15, 2026.

He was born in the small village of Bhabat in Zirakpur, Punjab. From early on, he believed in moving forward in life, no matter the circumstances. Coming from simple beginnings, he worked hard and became one of the first in his family and community to pursue higher education in Civil Engineering.

He spent his career with the Punjab Irrigation Department, where he worked with honesty and dedication, eventually retiring as an Assistant Executive Engineer (Gazetted Officer). He took pride in his work, but more than that, he believed in doing things the right way.

Life was not always easy for him. In his early 30s, he was diagnosed with

Parkinson’s disease. But he never let it define him. For 36 years, he lived

with it quietly and bravely. He stayed strong in his mind, kept a positive outlook, and carried on with a “keep moving forward” attitude.

As his children, we never saw him give up. We never saw him lose hope. No matter what he was facing, he handled it with strength and patience. That is how we will always remember him.

To us, he was not just a father, but our support system and our example. He taught us, without saying much, how to stay strong, how to face difficulties, and how to keep going while staying grounded.

He is lovingly remembered by our mother, Nirmala Devi, his partner of 45 years; his children, Atul Saini and Poonam Thakur; his daughter-in-law, Preeti Saini; his son-in-law, Chitranjan Thakur; and his grandchildren, Bhavik, Oomika, Mehak, and Yashvi, who brought him so much happiness.
