It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Sundeep (Sunny) Sidhu.

Sunny passed on June 20th, 2025, at the age of 51 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

Sunny was born in St. John’s, Newfoundland in 1974. He grew up with a radiant spirit, a love of people and a constant smile. He was an incredible young athlete and student and probably the funniest kid you have ever met in your life.

At age 13, Sunny was diagnosed with Scleroderma. This rare, progressive, systemic and devastating autoimmune disease brought immense physical trials and pain, repeated surgeries and hospital visits. Sunny refused to let Scleroderma define him, famously declaring, “I don’t believe Scleroderma is a life sentence – it’s a life. ”Despite the physical adversities, Sunny used to say, “the body might not work, but the brain does, and the mouth does" and he leveraged his incredible intellectual gifts professionally and creatively. He was a popular DJ who went on tour with Sean Paul and a television personality who interviewed some of the biggest bands in the world. Later in his career, he became a successful realtor, podcaster and documentary film producer. He also contributed his time and energy to help raise awareness and funds for Scleroderma research.

Sunny is predeceased by his mother Sarjeet, survived by his father Surindar, his sister Surita, his brother Shubh, his three nieces, his uncles, aunts and cousins and about a million friends. His legacy of perseverance, courage, humor and toughness will continue to inspire all of us. He will be missed, he will be honoured and he will be remembered. A funeral and celebration of Sunny’s life will be held on June 28th at 1PM at Edmonton Funeral Home and Crematorium. Please RSVP at
