With a deep sense of sorrow and loss, our family announces the passing of our father and grandfather on July 3, 2024 at the age of 66 at the University of Alberta Hospital.
Stanley’s memory will be cherished by his wife of over 48 years, Penny (nee Pelletier), his children: Neil (Kristy), Trisha (Jeremy) and his four beloved grandchildren: Vanden, Taylor, Nash and Vaida. Stanley is survived by his brothers Derek (Mary), Quon (Barbara) his sister, Nancy and his many nieces and nephews. Stanley was predeceased by his parents, Thomas and Bernice, his sister, Elizabeth, and brothers, Roger and Gordon.
Stanley’s greatest love in life was his children and grandchildren. He often touted their successes with great pride.
Stanley will always be remembered for his sense of humour, wit and charm. He travelled in many social circles, treating everyone the same, and welcomed and accepted people from all different walks of life. He enjoyed helping others and touched countless lives.
One of Stanley’s proudest accomplishments was graduating from university with his law degree; he also played on the university basketball team. He focused his career on being a passionate defence attorney in New Brunswick and Alberta.
Stanley was an athlete and huge sports fanatic. He loved all sports and excelled at many. He especially loved hockey, even to the end. In his final days, his children lovingly ensured he had the opportunity to watch the Oilers play in the Stanley (after which he is named) Cup Finals.
Cremation has taken place. A private family memorial will take place, with the scattering of the ashes at a later date in Maui, Stanley’s favourite place in the world.
The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the Palliative Care Team while he was on Unit 4A7 of the U of A Hospital who provided compassionate care for Stanley and the family during his last days.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Stanley’s honour may be made to a charity or organization of your choice.
