Shirley “Shirl/Mama Shirl/Momsy” Ann deVries, of Edmonton Alberta, has passed away on December, 12, 2024, after a hard-fought battle from heart disease at the age of 67.
Shirl is survived by her three kids, the “3 Jays”, their spouses, and 5 well-loved grandchildren. Jonathan (Karen, Kamryn, and Jaxyn), Jeremy (Melissa, Annastacia, and Seth), and Jalene (Andrew and Chester). She is also survived by her siblings, Niece, and Nephews. Ann ( David and Daniel), Dave (Cindy, Alexandra), and Michelle (Joe, Ryan, and Scott). She was predeceased by her brother Richard, father to Tanner and Taylor, and parents Engeliena, and Jan.
Shirl was a fiercely loved mother, grandmother, sibling, and friend. She built many connections through her work at Enbridge and Sustainable Forest Management (SFM). She loved crocheting, gardening, and a good (not too spicy) caesar.
Shirl’s house was your house, and her lasting memory will always be how she welcomed people into her life when they needed it the most. Some of our favorite memories were made in her backyard, aptly coined “Shirl’s Shangri-La” where she enjoyed hosting friends, family, and any tagalongs.
We welcome anyone who wishes to pay their respects to join us at her Celebration of Life on December 22nd, which would have been her next birthday. The celebration will be held at Edmonton Crematorium and Funeral Home (6403 Roper Rd NW), at (1 pm).
