It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Sarjeet Kaur Sidhu (born Panesar), a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, on December 13, 2024, at the age of 83 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

Born in 1941 in Amritsar, India, Sarjeet grew up moving frequently and was very close with her sisters and younger brother. Her independence and brilliance shone early in life. She earned multiple degrees in the 1960s, including a Bachelor's Degree in Classical Vocal Music and a Master’s Degree in History from the University of Allahabad. In 1967, she married Surindar and embarked on a bold new chapter, moving across the world to Canada.

Sarjeet was a beacon of kindness, generosity, and resilience. She had a remarkable dedication to those that she loved and was always present for family and close friends. Sarjeet was known for her genius in the kitchen and as a result her home was always a go-to culinary destination. As a mother, she was supportive and ever-present, and later in life, she combined her many talents and traits to become a devoted and loving grandmother.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Surindar; her children, Surita, Sunny, and Shubh; her daughter-in-law, Rita; her three wonderful granddaughters, Asha, Arya, and Adara; her brother, Mandeep; her sister, Manjeet and her nieces and nephews.

Her legacy of love and strength will continue to inspire all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

A private funeral service will be held at a later date.
