January 25, 1940 - May 2, 2026
It is with deep sorrow that our family announces the passing of our beloved brother, husband, father, uncle and grandfather S. Sadhu Singh Kaura on May 2, 2026 at the age of 86.
S. Sadhu Singh Kaura was born on January 25, 1940 in Ram Pur Jagir (Tar Pur), Punjab to Raja Singh Kaura and Isher Kaur Kaura where he grew up and dedicated many years of his life to serving others. As Sarpanch (Head of Council) for over twelve years, he was a trusted and respected leader of his community, his village and in the district. During this time he worked tirelessly to support development in Ram Pur Jagir. Most notably, he established the first high school in his village, leaving a lasting impact on future generations in his village and in surrounding villages. To many he was not just a leader, but also a pillar of the community—someone people could rely on in times of need. Even years later, people continued to know and call him “Sarpanch Sahib”, a title that reflected both respect and affection.
In 1992, S. Sadhu Singh Kaura immigrated to Canada where he built a life through an unwavering work ethic. He always said that “no job is a small job” and approached every opportunity with dignity and determination. From working on a blueberry farm in Abbotsford, BC to working as a custodian, he always took on new challenges and did so with pride. Before retiring, he helped his son start his family business, Amnor Ltd., and worked with his son for over 15 years, where he was known for being incredibly hard-working, holding high standards, and pushing those around him to do their best. He formed friendships wherever he went and had a natural ability to connect with people, young and old alike.
Above all, S. Sadhu Singh Kaura was a devoted family man. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 64 years, Ajit Kaur Kaura; children: Arpinder Kaur Turna (Gurdev), Harinder Singh Kaura (Kawaljit) and Navneet Kaur Momi (Rajinder); grandchildren: Sumeet Singh Turna (Natasha), Kevinjeet Singh Turna, Kurran Singh Kaura (Jagvir), Sonal Kaur Kaura, Asheesh Singh Momi, and Arsh Singh Momi; and siblings: Sarup Singh Kaura (Surjit) and Jaswinder Kaur Thind (late Bikramjit).
Sadhu Singh Kaura will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him.
A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday May 6, 2026 1:00 pm at Edmonton Crematorium and Funeral Home 6403 Roper Rd NW Edmonton.
