Resham Kaur Chahal

(December 10, 1930 – November 7, 2024)

With a deep sense of sorrow and loss, our family announces the passing of Resham Chahal on

Thursday, November 7th, 2024 at 8:00pm. Resham passed away peacefully at the Grey Nuns Hospital in Edmonton, Alberta. Resham was born on December 10th, 1930 in the village of Khajurla, District Kapurthala, Punjab, India to Sham Singh and Harnam Kaur Bhassi. She married Awtar Singh Chahal in 1950, and lived in Punjab until 1980, when the family moved to Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

Resham’s life was full of love, joy, and travels all around the world. She was incredibly kind, compassionate and selfless, always putting the needs of others before her own. Her calm demeanour and devotedness as a wife, mother, and grandmother were felt by all. She invited everyone with warmth into her home and took pride in her garden full of flowers and vegetables. She found joy in many things including embroidery, reading, and most of all, in loving her family.

Resham is lovingly remembered by her four children: Parmjeet (Harbinder), Narinderjeet (Nirmaljeet), Jaspal (Dalmeet), and Harprit (Harjinder), her ten grandchildren: Jamie, Danny, Sapna, Gary, Rajdeep, Amardeep, Sunny, Simran, Jessica, Amrit, and seven great grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her father, Sham Singh, mother, Harnam Kaur Bhassi, and her sisters. Following the service, final prayers and langar will be at the Gurdwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha at 4504 Mill Woods Rd S, Edmonton, AB T6L 6Y8.

Funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Sunday, November 17, 2024 at Edmonton Crematorium & Funeral Home, 6403 Roper Rd NW, Edmonton, AB.
