It is with profound sadness and much love that our family announce the passing of Remelyne "Mylena" Jasmin Apelledo, at the young age of 53.
Mylena passed away peacefully and with dignity at her Edmonton residence on Monday, Dec. 8, 2025, with her loving husband, Scott Pattison, and family members by her side, following a courageous three-year battle with breast cancer. A proud Filipina, Mylena was born and raised in Comon, the daughter of Criselda Jasmin and Leonardo Apellido Sr., in the beautiful province of Nueva Vizcaya, Luzon. Like many Filipinas, Mylena demonstrated her deep love and commitment to her family by moving abroad at an early age to work as a nanny in Taiwan, Hong Kong and Singapore.
In 2005, she fulfilled one of her dreams, which was to relocate to Canada, a country she first became enamoured with from a simple postcard. She continued to work as a nanny in Fort McMurray, Alberta, and Naramata, B.C., before settling in Edmonton, Alberta. Mylena, also known to her many friends as "Remy", continued to demonstrate an unwavering commitment, balancing various jobs on a daily basis to help support loved ones back home. She was a hard-working member of the University of Alberta's custodial staff and a health-care aid at a long-term care home.
Mylena then found her true calling, when she decided to become a Registered Massage Therapist (RMT) being educated at Makami College. Following graduation, she worked at various clinics across Edmonton, always providing high level care and healing to her loyal clients.
In 2015, Mylena found the love of her life, Scott, "Mahalko", and enjoyed a beautiful relationship together for the past 11 years. Always inspired to live a full and rich life, Mylena reached another professional pinnacle when she and her husband launched their own massage therapy clinic, Miracle Massage, which still remains vibrant today. In 2021, she realized yet another dream; Canadian citizenship.
Mylena's devotion to family was her most profound legacy. She is survived to her two devoted stepsons Kaleb and Keenan Pattison, and her loving sister Lolita Apellito, (Karim), nephew JB Norberte, (Emma), Princess Norberte (second niece) and Jasmine Apelledo (niece) here in Edmonton.
Her memory will also forever be cherished by her surviving family members in the Philippines, including her brothers, Junior Apelledo (Irene), Rey Apelledo (Rose) and their respective children. Mylena dearly loved all of her many nieces and nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. She also cared deeply for her many friends in and around Comon and Aritao, as well as here in Edmonton.
She was also beloved by Glenna Pattison Marshall (sister-in-law) and Brian Pattison (brother-in-law).
She is predeceased by her grandparents Teodora and Feliciano (father's side) and Elena and Pedro (mother's side) and her stepdaughter, Kiana Pattison. A woman of strong faith, Mylena always walked in God's footsteps, celebrating the accomplishments of those in her life, while forgiving those for their missteps.
We are forever indebted to the numerous health-care professionals who took her hand and walked gently with her while demonstrating such great care and affection for Mylena and her family throughout this lengthy journey.
A celebration of life will be held for Mylena at a later date, allowing family time to begin the healing process, and come to terms with Remelyne’s death.

Mylena loved her dogs Sam and Charlie, the latter of which was a rescue from the Second Chance Animal Rescue Society (SCARS). It was her wish that any donations be made in her name to SCARS to help save abandoned or stray pets. To donate, please click here:
