It is with profound sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Rajinder Singh Kalsi, lovingly known as Paul Kalsi, on July 22, 2025, in Edmonton, Alberta, at the age of 69.
Born in Punjab, India, Rajinder came to Canada in pursuit of a better future and spent his life in service to his family and community.
A devoted husband, father, son and friend, he is deeply missed and forever remembered by his beloved wife Paramjeet Kaur Kalsi, son Sukhinder Singh Kalsi, daughter-in-law Damanpreet Kaur, and daughters Sonia Kalsi and Jassey Kalsi and by his two brothers Manjit Singh Kalsi and Lakhwinder Singh Kalsi and two sisters Ranjit Kaur and Bhupinder Kaur. He was predeceased by his parents Baldev Singh Kalsi and Mohinder Kaur Kalsi.
Paul's life was defined by compassion, humility, and a quiet strength. His legacy lives on in the countless lives he touched and the values he instilled in those around him.
After a life-altering workplace accident, Paul found himself at a crossroads—facing not only physical challenges, but emotional ones as well. It was a moment that could have taken so much more from him- his identity, his drive, his sense of purpose.
But through the hardship, and with unwavering support from his wife Parmjeet Kalsi by his side, he chose a different path. He found meaning in service. He turned adversity into action and pain into purpose.
From that point forward, he poured himself into helping others—not for recognition, not for reward, but because it was who he was.
As a dedicated community volunteer and social worker, Paul gave his time—every single day—to support newcomers to Canada. He became a steady hand for individuals and families navigating the overwhelming challenges of resettlement- immigration paperwork, language barriers, employment, housing, and the emotional weight of starting over. With quiet determination, he helped them not only find their footing—but begin building a new life from the ground up.
He stood alongside women escaping domestic violence, helping them not just find shelter, but find the strength to begin again.
He gave generously, without question, without expectation—always showing up, quietly and wholeheartedly.
His legacy is one of resilience, compassion, and an unshakable commitment to empowering others.
Rajinder’s life was defined by compassion, humility, and a quiet strength. His legacy lives on in the countless lives he touched and the values he instilled in those around him.
Funeral service will be held at 10:45 am on Sunday, July 27, 2025 at Edmonton Crematorium & Funeral Home, 6403 Roper Rd NW, Edmonton, AB.
