Raj Kummar Sabharwal

Raj Sabharwal was born on May 1, 1962, in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, and passed away on
January 4, 2026, in Edmonton, Alberta.

He was the cherished son of Har and Bimal Sabharwal.

Raj was a vibrant spirit, and his kindness left a lasting mark on everyone he met. He lived with
love, resilience, and genuine compassion—qualities that will stay in the hearts of his family and
friends. As we grieve his passing, we invite you to remember him not for the day we lost him,
but for the joy and love he brought into our lives.

Raj is survived by his loving mother, Bimal; his brother, Aman; his wife, Shami; and his sons,
Ryan and Benjamin. He also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, and nieces
who loved him deeply.

His passion for sports and horses showed in everything he did, and he touched many lives
through his work.

Raj had a unique way of lifting the people around him. His warm smile, laughter, and genuine
interest in others made people feel welcomed and accepted. He was known for bringing energy
into every room he entered.

A Celebration of Life in honor of Raj Sabharwal will be held on January 17, 2026, at Edmonton
Crematorium and Funeral Home. The service will also be live streamed (details to be shared, if
applicable). In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the Mazankowski Alberta
Heart Institute (Maz), which reflects Raj’s spirit of giving and service.

While Raj’s presence will be deeply missed, his spirit will live on in the hearts of everyone who
knew him. May we carry forward his legacy of love, kindness, and compassion. As you watch
over us, Raj, your light will continue to shine.

The family will receive friends at Edmonton Crematorium and Funeral Home on January 17,
2026. Viewing will be at 11:00 am, and the service will begin at 1:00 pm. Lunch will be provided
after the service.
