It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Om Parkash Jaswal of Edmonton, Alberta on February 20, 2025 at the age of 61. Om is survived by his wife, Kamal; daughters Neesha (Ryan), Rosie (Jordan), and Sumeeta; grandchildren Tomas and Archer; sister Shyama (Kamal); brother Kuldip (Rinki); as well as numerous relatives and friends.
He was predeceased by his parents Hem Raj Jaswal and Surinder Kaur Jaswal, as well as his niece Anita Minhas.
Om was born in Calcutta, India on September 10, 1963. He moved to Terrace, BC with his family at the age of eight before moving to Edmonton with his own family in 1990. He worked for the Edmonton Transit Service for over 25 years, as a bus driver, LRT operator, and inspector, while also running his own trucking business.
After a long battle with Multiple Systems Atrophy, a rare and aggressive neurological disease similar to Parkinson’s, he is at peace. A service will be held at Edmonton Crematorium and Funeral Home on Friday, February 28, 2025 at 1pm. Following the service, bhog will be held at Singh Sabha Gurdwara at 3pm.
