It is with great sadness to announce the passing of Nicole Dubois, 71, on November 17th, 2025. 

Nicole was born on November 11th 1954 in the small town of Matchawan, Ontario. She was the third born of six children, from her loving parents Antonio and  Françoise. Nicole predominantly grew up in Gatineau, Quebec. In 1985, she met the love of her life, John Hansen. They would be happily married on September 1st, 1989. In 1993, they moved permanently to Edmonton Alberta. 

Nicole was the devoted mother of three children: her eldest, Kristian; her daughter, Sara; and her son, Nicolas. She was also the proud grandmother of seven grandchildren, each of whom she adored with all her heart.

Nicole was an amazing mother. She always had her children’s backs and was considered the emotional rock of the family. No matter the problem, she was always there for her kids. Though she was a quiet woman, her protective “mama bear” side came out whenever her children needed defending. She always reminded her family that everything would be okay and that they could get through whatever life threw their way.

Nicole worked a variety of jobs in her life, mainly as a Nurse’s Aid. Nicole spent most of her time in her field working with adults in care facilities. 

Nicole loved to work on puzzles and making beaded art. When she was younger, she enjoyed varnishing and restoring old furniture. Nicole was also an avid reader, loving her cheesy vampire romance novels. Christmastime was her favorite part of her year as she would  set up miniature Christmas villages every December on the main hutch in the living room. She would always cook the family some meat pies every Christmas dinner and would also make sure that they had decorations up on the front lawn. 

Nicole was predeceased by her father, Antonio; her mother, Françoise; her elder brothers, Jacques and Robert; and her younger brother, Michel. She is survived by her sisters, Marie and Yvette; her husband, John; her children, Kristian, Sara (Jesse), and Nicolas (Casey); and her grandchildren, Xander, Lyra, Bryson, Avera, Eva, Rhett, and Salem. She will be profoundly missed by her entire family.

With Nicole’s wishes, there will be no funeral taking place. The Hansen family wishes to give thanks to the Edmonton Crematorium & Funeral Home for helping them navigate this incredibly difficult time.
