With a deep sense of sorrow, our family announces the passing of our mother and grandmother, Mohinder Kaur Mattu, on November 17, 2024, at the age of 81.

Mohinder, lovingly known as “Nani”, will be forever remembered by her children Parmjit Kaur Kang, Jatinder Singh Mattu, Charnjit Kaur Kang, and Sarvjit Kaur Bamrah, and their spouses. She will also be dearly missed by her grandchildren Balpreet Kaur Kang, Chitpal Singh Kang, Akampal Singh Kang, Jasgun Kaur Mattu, Sukhman Singh Mattu, Ajapjot Singh Kang, Harshika Kaur Kang, Bhavdeep Singh Bamrah, and Tarannum Kaur Bamrah, as well as by her extended family and friends.

She was truly a source of love, strength, and kindness to all who knew her.

Nani immigrated to Canada in 1996 in search of a brighter future for her family. Regardless of the struggles she faced over her lifetime, Nani exemplified resilience and independence, inspiring everyone around her. She embraced everything in her life with unwavering determination and grace. She was deeply connected to her Sikh faith, enjoyed listening to Gurbhani, and lived by the principle of Dashwand, demonstrating her generous and selfless spirit. She remained keenly interested in world events, engaging in meaningful discussions about them with curiosity and insight.

Her commitment to family, her compassion for others, and her ability to inspire those around her have left a legacy that will guide us in our lives.

A funeral service will be held for family and friends on Friday, November 22 at 12:00 PM at Edmonton Crematorium and Funeral Home (6403 Roper Rd NW, Edmonton, AB T6B 3G6), followed by Sehaj Path Bhog at 2:00 PM at Gurdwara Millwoods (2606 Mill Woods Rd E, Edmonton, AB T6L 5Y3).
