October 13, 1944 – November 1, 2023.
Joginder left India in 1970 after getting into a debate with his family member whether he could make it abroad on his own. With his determined nature, he snuck onto a boat to prove them wrong. After arriving in Germany, he continued his travels to Kuwait, London, and eventually called Canada home in 1972.
He returned to India in 1974 to marry the love of his life, Urvashi (Joany) Chawla. He had 3 beautiful children and worked hard to provide for his family.
His work took him from Canada to the US and back again to ensure he could provide his children with the life he hoped for. His family meant the world to him, to the point where he would give the last dollar in his pocket to see the smile on their faces. His favorite pastimes were dinners and road trips with his family, Indian dramas and buying lotto tickets from the same gas station every week. Joginder’s last years were very challenging, fighting a battle with PSP (a rare neurological disease). However hard it became, he never complained and fought a tough battle to the end. Joginder passed peacefully, surrounded by his loved ones.
He is survived by his wife, 3 children, and 5 grandchildren, as well as numerous family and friends who loved him dearly.
A funeral service will be held at 2 pm on Friday, November 10, 2023 at Edmonton Crematorium & Funeral Home, 6403 Roper Road NW, Edmonton, AB.
