It is with profound sadness, we announce the passing of Gopal Kurup, who departed this life peacefully on August 12, 2025.
He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather (apoopa), great grandfather, brother and uncle. Gopal was a devoted husband to Syamala for 63 years, a loving father to Gopan (Anu) and Geetha (Ian Ball), and extremely proud grandfather to Rani (David Berg), Maya (Jon Hesje), Arjun, Jonathan and Meera. Gopal also leaves behind 3 great grandchildren he was blessed with, Leo, Isla and Remi; as well as his brother, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews in India.
Gopal will forever be remembered for his quiet and steady disposition and his unwavering loyalty, commitment and love for his cherished family and friends.
A Funeral Service to celebrate his life will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at the Edmonton Crematorium and Funeral Home, 6403 Roper Road.
As an expression of sympathy memorial donations may be made to the CNIB or Stroke and Heart Foundation.
