Gerhart (Garry) Fredrich Reppert Obituary

With great love and heavy hearts, the family of Gerhart “Garry” Fredrich Reppert of Edmonton, Alberta, announces his passing on June 15, 2025, at the age of 83.

Born on July 8, 1941, in Newbrook, Alberta, Garry was the son of the late Alexander and Lydia Reppert, and brother to the late Marg Fidelak. He is lovingly remembered by his ex  wife, Janice Reppert; son David Reppert (wife Heidi); daughter Lisa Bacchus (husband Mike); grandchildren Kyle Reppert (wife Jami), Jenna Bacchus, Emma Bacchus, Violette Reppert, and Alise Reppert; and great-grandson Stetson Reppert. He also leaves behind his brother, Walter Reppert, and many extended family and friends who will miss him dearly.

Garry began his working life in the tire business before proudly founding Garry Reppert Contracting purchasing his first truck in 1975. He built a business that reflected his tireless work effort. He was rarely seen without his beloved red Old Ford dump truck which he continued to drive well into his seventies.

Known for his quick wit and unforgettable one-liners, Garry’s humour lit up every room — especially when surrounded by his grandchildren, who adored him. One of their favourite traditions was receiving a "repurposed" birthday card each year: usually an old phone or gas bill with Garry’s name crossed out, replaced with “Happy Birthday” and a little spending money. It became a cherished family ritual and a perfect example of his unique and playful spirit.

More than anything, Garry showed up. He was there — in the stands, on the sidelines, and in the audience — for hockey games, cheer competitions, volleyball matches, basketball, and soccer, cheering on his grandkids with pride, even if he didn’t always know the rules of the game. His love and support never wavered.

Garry had a deep affection for animals — dogs, cats, bunnies — all creatures were welcome in his world. But it wasn’t just animals he showed up for. Whether it was a neighbor, a friend, or family in need, Garry was the one people knew they could call. He would always come, ready to help, no questions asked.

His legacy of kindness, laughter, and love will live on in the many lives he touched.
