Elliot Saxby Obituary

It is with much sorrow and heartbreak we share the sudden passing of our dear Elliot Scott Saxby.
He sadly passed in his sleep January 16th 2024, and will be lovingly remembered by his family and friends. Elliot loved with his whole heart, and would truly give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. Ell’s genuine soul could easily connect with others, he had this effortless ability to make friends even when faced in the most challenging of situations. He embraced others with compassion, understanding and acceptance, always without judgment.

Elliot had a great love for all sports. He absolutely loved his Oilers and would wow anyone with his vast knowledge of the game, the players and their stats.
He did not boast about his own talent in sports but he excelled in hockey and soccer, where he was chosen to represent Alberta in the Nationals. There is so many stories of his many medals achieved with his mom and dad cheering him all the way in anything he set his mind on. He was very strong and fast and played with great fitness ability and skill.

Elliot Scott Saxby was born in Camberly England May 20, 1966 to his loving parents, father Maurice Saxby and Mother Doreen (Chaffe) Saxby and was four years old when they came to Canada. Elliot had a beautiful and loving childhood shared with his two younger brothers Matthew and Phillip.
He was seventeen when he received his Dual Citizenship in 1983 and graduated in 1985, then went on to College to receive his Law Enforcement Degree including Sociology and Psychology.
Elliot received a letter for his bravery from when he worked as a Security Guard at West Edmonton Mall, and would share stories with us from that experience.

Around the age of twenty-five Elliot moved to Chetwynd BC, he worked at the Pulpmill and became a volunteer Fire Fighter where his strength and ability and care to protect others was again displayed.  In 1999 he was married in Banff, creating what he lovingly would call his bee family.  Ell eventually found his way back home to Alberta in 2001 with his little family (Elaine and Blair) in tow.  In reflection, time has seemed to swiftly pass, sharing much love, laughter, some tears and struggle over the years. We are reminded that life is short and we only get to spend it once. We all may experience struggle but our struggles do not define us. Elliot had incredible strength and held such hope in his heart. You are so loved; our hearts are broken…our love for you will shine through eternity.

He deeply showed his love for his family and cherished all the memories he shared with his mom, dad and brothers, his wife and stepson, his sisters-in-law, brothers-n-law and his nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins in England.
We lovingly remember and hang onto all our very precious moments. Thank you Elliot for loving us, your gentle kind spirit will be forever missed…and never forgotten.

In lieu of flowers we ask to support one of Elliots desire to help others in way of giving back to a local Shelter or Food Bank. Make a difference and live each day with purpose.
