LAVIGNE, Clara Margaret (nee Kolbeinson)

With a deep sense of sorrow, loss and profound love, our family announces the peaceful passing of our mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt, Clara (Clare) Lavigne, who passed away on December 11, 2024 at the age of 91, with her daughter and son-in-law by her side.

Clare was born to Tom and Marie Kolbeinson in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan on April 7, 1933. She was the youngest child of three with two older brothers, Ivor and Carl. She met her first and only love, Leon Lavigne, while attending Haultain School, and in 1952, they tied the knot. 

In 1953, they welcomed their first daughter, Linda Marie. In 1954, another daughter, Diane Lynn, was born. In 1971, they moved to Edmonton, Alberta, and in 1972, they finally added a son, Anthony Joseph. Much to the appreciation of her children, Clare remained a homemaker and devoted mother.

She will be forever loved and cherished by her daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Roger Guerin, her son, Tony Lavigne, her brother, Carl Kolbenson, her grandchildren, Julie Mapes and Carl Mapes (Kyla), her great-grandchildren, Alexandra Bednarski (Dustin), Nicolas Mapes, Mikala Mapes, Stevie Mapes and Myra Mapes,  former son-in-law, Carl Mapes Sr., and her nieces, Cheryl and Cathy.

Clare was predeceased by her loving husband of 59 years, Leon (2011), her beautiful daughter, Linda (2024), her parents Marie (1966) and Thomas (1958), her parents-in-law, Ada (1978) and Lonnie Lavigne (1973), her brother, Ivor Kolbeinson (2008), her sisters-in-law, Elsie Kolbenson (2017) and Shirley Kolbeinson (2019) and her nephew, Rick Kolbenson (2002).

Cremation has taken place. To honour Clare's wishes, there will be no service held.
