It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Brian Frederick Gizzie, who left this world peacefully on December 22, 2025, in Edmonton, Alberta, where he was born on October 11, 1953.
Brian was a remarkable individual whose life was filled with music, love, and an unwavering dedication to his family and community.

He cherished the time spent with his siblings, Donna Cooke (John), Rob (Marilynn), Mark (Charlene), and Chris, creating a bond that would last a lifetime.
Brian's professional journey spanned over 35 years as a teacher in Edmonton and its surrounding areas, where he inspired countless students. He believed in the never-ending search for knowledge and the importance of education.
In addition to his dedication to teaching, Brian was a gifted musician. He loved playing his chanter, bagpipes, and guitar, and had a knack for picking up any instrument he could find. His musical talents were well known throughout the Edmonton area, where he was an active member of many organizations over the years, including the Edmonton Boys Pipe Band, the Edmonton Caledonia Pipe Band, CFI, and the Cragvore Music Society (Big Rock Pipe Band and Edmonton District Pipe Band), Clan MacNaughton Pipe Band as well as countless small jam sessions, with many talented musicians and friends. Through his music, Brian brought joy to many and left a lasting impact on the community.
Brian was married to Susan Gizzie (née Durand) for over 35 years. Together, they built a beautiful family. Brian leaves behind three wonderful children. He took immense pride in his daughters, Doryan Elliott (James) and Brean Gizzie-McLeod (Kyle), and his son, Liam Gizzie (Baillie). Brian was a devoted grandfather to his cherished grandchildren, Lennon and Quinn Elliott, and Caleb and Kinsley McLeod. He had a profound love for them and found great joy in being part of their lives. Brian also had a special place in his heart for dogs, particularly his loyal German Shepherd, Tasha.
