Ashit Baran Sarkar

We are filled with heaviest hearts and deep sorrow as we announce Shri Ashit Baran Sarkar, born on August 31, 1946 passed away peacefully on August 12, 2025 in Edmonton, Canada in full consciousness.

A loving husband to his wonderful wife and the most caring father to his two children, Ashit was a dedicated family man who led his life with dignity, humility and honesty. An ardent sport fan, Ashit loved and excelled in several sports while growing up and shared that passion with his son till his last day. He was a compassionate soul who found joy in making lighthearted remarks, sharing laughter, and relishing good food. Ashit valued his relationships deeply, maintaining close bonds with his colleagues and embracing his family and friends with kindness and an open heart.

He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Rita Sarkar; daughter, Debasmita Sarkar; son-in-law, Shoumadip Das; son, Arka Sarkar; daughter-in-law, Oindrila Paul; and his cherished granddaughter, Debanshi Das.

His last rites will be performed on Friday, August 22, 2025, 11am at the Edmonton Crematorium and Funeral Home. Friends and family may join the live telecast to pay their respects via the following link below.
