Albert Harpe Obituary

With the heaviest of hearts, the family of Albert Harpe would  like to let you all know of his passing on March 29, 2025, at the age of 77.

Dad passed away peacefully at the St. Joseph’s Auxiliary Hospital in Edmonton.

Born May 22, 1947,  in Fort McMurray Alberta, he was one in a family of 14 children.  Having grown up in a large family, he always had a lot of great stories to share.

Dad was an accountant in Fort McMurray at Syncrude for several years and was involved in many community events.  He also took on the role as  President of Minor Hockey during this time.  Later he moved  south to Edmonton to work in the Hotel Industry.  He retired as the  General Manager of the Ramada Hotel in Lac La Biche in 2021. In his retirement he continued fundraising and doing the books for the Lac La Biche Homeless Shelter.

Dad loved his family and friends very much, and enjoyed traveling.   He was a fantastic cook and was kind, fun-loving and very generous.   He was full of love, had a great sense of humor and a contagious laugh. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

He was pre-deceased by his parents Edward and Olivine Harpe; daughters Cheryl and Brenda; brothers Arthur, Fred, Emile, August and Roland; and sisters Marianne, Yvonne, Annette and Thelma.

Dad will be remembered by his children: Daryl  (Lesley)  and Brent; his grandchildren: Jason (Owl), Bryce (Robyn), Breanna and Maria (Kyle);  his siblings: Henry, David, Joe, and Leona (Ray) and all of their families as well as Leona Anderson and son-in-law Kelly.

A special THANK YOU to Dr. Vicarrudin and the wonderful staff at the St. Joseph Auxiliary Hospital. Your care of our Dad was kind and compassionate.

Silent, Strong Dad

He never looks for praises.

He's never one to boast.

He just goes on quietly working

For those he loves the most.

His dreams are seldom spoken.

His wants are very few,

And most of the time his worries

Will go unspoken, too.

He's there...a firm foundation

Through all our storms of life,

A sturdy hand to hold onto

In times of stress and strife.

A true friend we can turn to

When times are good or bad.

One of our greatest blessings,

The man that we call Dad.
